The Man-Eating Tree, the new group from Vesa Ranta of Sentenced fame, is releasing their debut album in September 2010. The first single from the album will be out in spring. Compared to Sentenced, The Man-Eating Tree's output is slightly more dusky and ethereal, not to forget the strong choruses and melodies. The forthcoming album is produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa, who is responsible for the broad-minded soundscapes.

Hailing from Oulu, The Man-Eating Tree introduces some familiar faces from the Finnish metal scene, including the Poisonblack guitarist Janne Markus, Mikko Uusimaa from Reflexion, Heidi Määttä from the late Embraze, Vesa Ranta from Sentenced and Aaron Rantonen. Ex-Fall of the Leaf singer Tuomas Tuominen is taking care of the vocal business.

"After Sentenced split up, everybody in the band has been continuing making music with their projects, it's in our blood anyway. The Man-Eating Tree was born after I found the right players to the team. We are really excited with this band and eager to have the first release out in spring and the full album in September. Touring plans will also appear later in the spring.", says The Man-Eating Tree's founder and drummer Vesa Ranta.

Sentencedin kannuttelijana tunnetun Vesa Rannan uusi kokoonpano The Man-Eating Tree julkaisee debyyttialbuminsa syyskuussa 2010. Tätä enteilee ensimmäinen singleraita keväällä. Bändin metallissa on eteeristä tunnelmaa, vahvoja kertsejä ja koukuttavia melodioita. Sentencedistä pesäeron ottava The Man-Eating Tree on keskittynyt aavistuksen hämyisempään menoon säilyttäen kuitenkin metallilajille tyypillisen raskauden. Levyn on tuottanut Hiili Hiilesmaa, joka vastaa levyn ennakkoluulottomasta äänimaisemasta.

Oululaisen The Man-Eating Tree -yhtyeen riveistä löytyy mm. Poisonblackistä tuttu kitaristi Janne Markus, Reflexionissa vaikuttava Mikko Uusimaa, edesmenneen Embraze-yhtyeen Heidi Määttä, Aaron Rantonen sekä Sentenced-rumpali Vesa Ranta. Laulajana toimii ex-Fall of the Leaf -solisti Tuomas Tuominen.
