BLACK MAGIC SIX: AN UNSCRUBULOUS PURSUE OF PROFIT

Black Magic Six's second album, Doomsday Bound, is yet another calculated pop album that will most probably sell more than a cola bottle in Olympic games. Doomsday Bound succeeds in putting together just the right elements of the most depraved styles in the history of rock'n'roll. Its blues-infected punk rock and the appropriately rugged production manage to keep the listener in its cold grip for all breath-taking 10 short songs. The theme of the lyrics creates images of possessed humans, and the the ragged but fashionable image of the band along with the gigs filled with raw energy support this glorious concept that was born on the record company's negotiation room's desk. The game can also be real dirty on this level. Earlier, the band started its tours in quietness in small towns abroad, but now the album release tour begins straight in Helsinki. The band will even play two gigs in some towns along the way, most probably due to maximization of the profit. History has proved so many times that this kind of pursue will turn against itself.

BLACK MAGIC SIX: HÄIKÄILEMÄTÖNTÄ VOITONTAVOITTELUA

Black Magic Sixin kakkoslevy Doomsday Bound on jälleen yksi laskelmoitu pop-albumi, joka markkinointikoneiston ansiosta tulee myymään luultavasti enemmän kuin colapullo olympiakisoissa. Doomsday Bound onnistuu yhdistelemään juuri sopivat elementit rockhistorian paheellisimmista tyyleistä. Sen blues- vaikutteinen punkrock sekä sopivan rosoinen tuotanto onnistuu pitämään kylmässä otteessaan hengästyttävän 10 lyhyen kappaleen ajan. Sanoitusten tematiikka luo mielikuvaa riivatuista ihmispoloista, ja yhtyeen muotitietoisen rähjäinen imago sekä räjähtävää energiaa pursuavat keikat tukevat tätä levy-yhtiön neuvotteluhuoneen pöydällä syntynyttä loistokasta konseptia. Tällä tasolla peli voi olla myös likaista. Aiemmin yhtye aloitteli kiertueensa kaikessa hiljaisuudessa pienissä kaupungeissa ulkomailla, mutta nyt levynjulkaisukiertue alkaa suoraan Helsingistä. Joissain kiertueen kaupungeissa yhtye soittaa samana päivänä jopa kaksi keikkaa, ilmeisesti tuoton maksimoimiseksi. Historia on moneen kertaan todistanut, että tällainen häikäilemätön voitontavoittelu kääntyy vielä itseään vastaan.
